Code of Ethics for members of Education Wellington International

Education Wellington International is a group of government-accredited universities, polytechnics / institutes of technology, schools and private training providers in the Wellington region whose members are committed to high quality education for international students at all levels of study.

As a member of Education Wellington International we will:

1.  Act always in the best interests of New Zealand and the Wellington region, and support other EWI members

2.  Avoid activities which may bring New Zealand, the Wellington region, or other EWI members into disrepute

3.  Contribute to the collaborative, accurate and honest marketing of the Wellington region to international audiences both off- and on-shore

4.  Provide high-quality education programmes which focus on meeting students’ educational needs and enhancing students’ opportunities for long-term education success

5.  Promote the establishment of education pathways which enable students to progress as seamlessly as possible from one institution to another, preferably within the EWI membership

6.  Observe best practice in providing student learning support, pastoral care and accommodation services

7.  Adopt promotional and pricing practices that ensure that the goal of maintaining Wellington’s image as a provider of quality education and student support services is not compromised

8.  Comply with the New Zealand Ministry of Education’s Code of Practice for the Pastoral Care of International students and all other relevant legislation and regulations governing the state and private sectors

9.  Undertake appropriate professional development in order to:
-  continuously improve knowledge and competence in the international education industry
-  ensure that the organisation is well-equipped to develop and implement strong policies for international programmes
-  gain an understanding of the quality requirements, nature and operation of the international market.
